In the pavilion at Aspinwall Riverfront Park, 1,800 colorful ribbons hang from the rafters like a rainbow forest stirring gently in the breeze. Each one represents a life lost to COVID in Western Pennsylvania and has upon it a handwritten message of gratitude. Titled Waves of Gratitude, this public art installation invites quiet thoughts of abundant joy in the wake of abundant sorrow. Here, I offered up some sonic reflections in appreciation of both the peace and the struggle that brought us to this bright spring day.
